Psychological integration is not a single event or a single pathway. Human cognition, emotion, memory, and physiology operate through multiple interacting systems that influence one another continuously. As a result, there is no evidence that one universal sequence exists for integrating every psychological wound.

This framework represents one proposed pathway through that complexity. It organizes established principles from neuroscience, psychology, trauma research, and somatic therapy into a structured sequence that can be observed, practiced, refined, and tested. The sequence itself is a working hypothesis. The biological and psychological mechanisms associated with each state are independently supported within their respective fields.

The purpose of this framework is not to replace existing therapeutic models. It is to provide an organized structure that helps individuals move from unconscious trauma responses toward conscious integration.

The Structure

I have a framework I’ve been working on for a while, and have mentioned parts of it here and there. The working title is Mitosis of God — a 1-9 mitosis of evolution, viewed through the lens of geology, psychology, biology, and physics. It’s still developing, and not something I’m ready to present in full. But it’s where the following sequence comes from.

If the nine stages are the vessel, then these two following sequences are the mechanics. This framework uses six structured states of integration:

State 1 → State 2 → State 4 → State 8 → State 7 → State 5

A sequence that mirrors the programming process in reverse:

State 5 → State 7 → State 8 → State 4 → State 2 → State 1

The mirrored relationship reflects a simple observation found throughout neuroscience. Many learning processes require activation before modification. Memory reconsolidation research demonstrates that previously stored emotional learning must first be reactivated before it becomes capable of change. Likewise, trauma programming begins with lived experience and gradually becomes an automatic response, while integration begins with awareness of that automatic response and gradually returns conscious regulation to the nervous system.

The numerical structure serves as an organizational map rather than a biological law. It provides a consistent method for navigating these processes.

Connection to Ankh, Cross & Crux

The Ankh’s structure is a loop resting above a grounded cross. Crosses and crossroads carry this same weight across many traditions: thresholds, turning points, the place before a transformation completes. Even the sky tells this story. The word “solstice” means “sun standing still,” and for about 3 days around the winter solstice, the sun’s path genuinely appears to pause before daylight begins its return. I notice this same shape everywhere I look: the sun’s pause before the light returns, the three days between Jesus’s death and resurrection, and, in Egyptian belief, the Ankh itself, often read as a joining of the unseen and the manifest, translated literally as “life,” appearing throughout Egyptian art and myth as something that restores a static state back into a living one. Most vividly, this shows up in the story of Isis reassembling the scattered body of Osiris and returning breath to him, which is my interpretation of shadow integration: returning your fragmented consciousness back to your whole.

I’m not claiming the ancient Egyptians had any concept resembling modern psychological integration, and I’m not claiming this symbol validates my sequence. I’m only saying: something about a loop returning to wholeness after fragmentation resonates with this sequence for me, because there is an expansion ascend, followed by a heart space, and then a descend back to source.

Why Are 3, 6, and 9 Missing?

This omission is deliberate.

Within my larger Mitosis Framework, these three states belong to a separate layer of psychological organization concerned with consciousness, expansion, and higher-order integration. The present framework focuses only on the structured processes involved in trauma formation and trauma integration.

The Descent: How Trauma Becomes a Program

State 5: Emotional Charge

Every learning process begins with significance.

When an experience carries sufficient emotional intensity, the brain assigns priority to it through the interaction of the amygdala, hippocampus, and salience network. Strong emotional experiences are more likely to become durable memories because the nervous system interprets them as important for future survival.

This initial emotional charge provides the energy that begins the programming process.

State 7: Somatic Encoding

Before experience becomes language, it becomes physiology.

Changes in breathing, muscle tension, heart rate, posture, facial expression, and autonomic regulation occur within milliseconds through neuroception and autonomic nervous system activity.

Many aspects of traumatic experience become encoded as implicit bodily memory before conscious narrative develops.

State 8: Narrative Construction

The brain naturally constructs explanations for physiological experience.

Networks involved in autobiographical memory and self-referential thinking, particularly the Default Mode Network, organize sensations into coherent personal narratives.

These narratives often become implicit beliefs such as:

“I am unsafe.”

“I cannot trust people.”

“I always fail.”

The story is not the trauma itself. It is the brain’s interpretation of physiological experience.

State 4: Emotional Organization

As narratives stabilize, emotional patterns become increasingly predictable.

Research on emotional granularity demonstrates that emotions become more identifiable and repeatable over time. Similar situations begin producing similar emotional responses.

The nervous system develops increasingly efficient emotional predictions based on previous learning.

State 2: Defensive Organization

Repeated emotional responses gradually organize into broader defensive strategies.

Polyvagal Theory and autonomic neuroscience describe predictable patterns of mobilization and immobilization. Examples include:

• outward projection, confrontation, control, hypervigilance

• inward withdrawal, collapse, appeasement, dissociation

These patterns become habitual ways of responding to perceived threat.

State 1: Program Formation

Eventually the entire sequence becomes automatic.

Future experiences no longer require conscious evaluation. The nervous system recognizes familiar cues and activates previously learned physiological, emotional, and cognitive responses almost immediately.

The original adaptive response has become an implicit program.

The Ascent: How Integration Reorganizes the Program

Integration follows the same pathway in reverse because implicit learning must first become conscious before it can be modified.

State 1: Recognition

Integration begins by recognizing that a program is active.

This recruits prefrontal cortical networks responsible for observation and cognitive regulation, creating distance between awareness and automatic reaction.

State 2: Nervous System Identification

The next task is identifying the body’s current defensive organization. Examples include:

• mobilization

• immobilization

• projection

• withdrawal

Research on affect labeling demonstrates that naming internal states reduces amygdala activity while increasing prefrontal regulation. The objective is not analysis but recognition.

State 4: Emotional Differentiation

Once physiological activation decreases, emotional awareness becomes more precise.

The insular cortex integrates bodily sensations with conscious emotional awareness, allowing vague distress to become specific emotional experience. Emotional specificity improves emotional regulation and reduces generalized distress.

State 8: Narrative Examination

With emotional stability restored, the underlying narrative can be examined.

The Default Mode Network continuously constructs personal identity from past experience. Integration involves observing these narratives without automatically accepting them as objective reality. Questions such as these become possible:

“What belief am I operating from?”

“Is this belief still accurate?”

“What experience originally taught me this?”

This process separates autobiographical narrative from present reality.

State 7: Somatic Integration

Psychological insight alone rarely completes integration.

The nervous system often continues carrying physiological activation after conscious understanding develops. Interoceptive awareness, breathing, movement, tremoring, grounding, and other somatic interventions help complete incomplete defensive responses while restoring autonomic regulation.

The objective is physiological completion rather than cognitive suppression.

State 5: Compassionate Integration

The final stage introduces safety while the original learning remains active.

Research on self-compassion, autonomic regulation, and memory reconsolidation suggests that previously stored emotional learning becomes modifiable when reactivated under conditions that contradict its original expectation. Compassion, acceptance, and physiological regulation provide this corrective experience.

Rather than erasing memory, the nervous system updates the meaning attached to it. The event remains. The automatic survival program becomes less necessary.

Closing Perspective

Everything in this piece comes back to the same honest starting point: this is a working hypothesis, not a finished discovery.

The neuroscience supporting affect labeling, autonomic regulation, interoception, emotional granularity, narrative identity, self-compassion, and memory reconsolidation exists independently of this framework. The contribution of this model is not the discovery of new biological mechanisms. Its contribution is proposing a coherent sequence that organizes those mechanisms into one possible pathway for trauma programming and psychological integration.

Like any developing framework, its value depends on observation, refinement, replication, and continued testing.

Introduction: The Fragile Container

In the quietude of a healthy mind, there exists what Carl Jung called the transcendent function — a psychological bridge that allows us to process our darkest drives, our deepest shames, and our most violent impulses through the safety of symbols. We don’t have to literally die to experience ego death; we don’t have to literally burn to feel the fire of transformation. We use art, dreams, and metaphors to navigate the internal landscape.

But what happens when that container shatters?

When the human nervous system is subjected to overwhelming trauma or acute psychosis, the capacity for abstraction — the ability to tell the difference between a feeling and a fact — collapses. This is the realm of Concretism. It is the point where the mind stops thinking in metaphors and starts acting them out on the physical body.

Today, we’re looking at the ancient gods who bled, a recent clinical case, and the neurobiological system crash that turns a person’s own body into a sacrificial altar.

I. The Bloody Altars of History

Attis, Cybele, and the Pine

In Roman and Phrygian mythology, the youth Attis, embodiment of generative energy, was driven into a divine madness by the Great Mother Goddess, Cybele. In this state of frenzied, hyper-aroused mania, Attis performs the ultimate rejection of his own earthly nature: he castrates himself beneath a sacred pine tree, bleeding to death. Here, severing becomes a mode of transformation — the mind attempting to relieve an unbearable internal pressure by excising the very piece of itself it deems responsible.

Shiva and the Pillar of Fire

If Attis represents the violent severing of the flesh, Hindu cosmology provides the exact counterpart: not the blade, but the fire of transformation. In the foundational myth of the Jyotirlinga, Shiva’s supreme generative energy manifests as an infinite, boundless pillar of fire that pierces the universe.

Where Attis shows us the mind trying to solve its crisis by cutting the self away from the body, Shiva’s pillar shows us the same crisis solved through total incineration — not removing a part, but consuming the whole. Both myths are the psyche reaching for the same outcome — release from an unbearable state — through the only vocabulary left available to it once symbol has collapsed into act.

The Galli and the Concretization of the Myth

This mythic drama wasn’t kept on the page; it was enacted in the streets. The Galli — the eunuch priests of Cybele — would work themselves into a divine madness through percussive music and hallucinogens. In the climax of the Dies Sanguinis (The Day of Blood), they would literally reenact Attis’s severing. Following the act, they discarded their social identities, adopting women’s clothing, makeup, and jewelry — attempting to materially construct the Mother archetype on their own bodies rather than hold it internally.

The Skoptsy: The Fiery Baptism

We see this energy take a different form in the Skoptsy sect of 18th-century Russia. They viewed the genitals as a literal mark of sin grafted onto the human vessel at the Fall of Man. To return to an angelic state, they performed fiery baptisms — using red-hot irons or sharp blades to try to burn away the base material of the self, mistaking the metaphorical fire of psychological transformation for the physical heat of the iron.

These are not merely historical curiosities. They are the Theaters of the Body. When the soul cannot solve a crisis through introspection, it uses the only tool it has left: the flesh.

Psychoanalyst Hanna Segal called this catastrophic state the Symbolic Equation. In a healthy mind, a symbol represents a feeling. In a severely fractured mind, the boundary collapses: the symbol becomes the object. Being like something and being something become cognitively identical.

II. The Modern Patient and the Ancient Ghost

When we look at clinical cases of Oedipism (autoenucleation), we see the ghosts of Attis and the Skoptsy standing in the modern ER. The patient attempting to excise their own eye is often responding to a command hallucination. Because their psychological container has shattered, the subconscious literalizes the threat — seeking the miracle of a quiet mind by destroying the sensory organ that perceives the chaos.

Clinicians sometimes note an eerie calm in patients immediately after these acts — la belle indifférence. It is not peace. It is the nervous system’s last report from very far away.

III. A Recent Case

A recent, widely reported case — a man severing his own genitalia and setting the tissue on fire in his mother’s garage — is a perfect storm where myth and neurobiology meet.

Even in the immediate aftermath of bleeding and shock, he first told a different story: that a stranger downtown had attacked him. It was only once he reached the hospital that he said he wanted to be truthful, and gave his own account of what happened.

The Neurobiology of the System Crash

Why does the self-preservation reflex fail?

Prefrontal Decoupling. Under the crushing weight of acute psychiatric crisis, the brain floods with catecholamines — norepinephrine and dopamine. As Dr. Amy Arnsten’s research shows, the prefrontal cortex, the seat of logic and metaphor, undergoes a rapid structural shutdown. What remains is the primitive, reflexive amygdala.

The Symbolic Equation. To a mind trapped in a symbolic equation, the flesh doesn’t represent the source of guilt — it is the guilt. Physical eradication becomes the only available logic.

Stress-Induced Analgesia. When the brain perceives an inescapable threat, it floods the system with endogenous opioids — the same mechanism, in kind, that let the Galli feel little pain in their own frenzied rites. The physical injury becomes, however briefly, a biological lever attempting to correct an unbearable neurochemical debt.

Humanity has an ancient, instinctual blueprint for handling the heavy, unintegrated density of the collective subconscious. We create an avatar, build it up to the absolute peak of human potential, crown it, and then structurally overload it until it collapses.

To understand why this happens, we have to look at the ancient architecture of the “Goat”, a symbol that spans from Babylonian astronomy to modern hip-hop, mapping the exact mechanics of how we manage the gravity of our own shadows.

The Cosmic Sea-Goat: Enki, Capricorn, and the Split Avatar

The archetype begins at the root of our architectural history with the Sumerian deity Enki (later known as Ea). In ancient astronomy, Enki was symbolized by Capricorn, the Sea-Goat, a creature that is half-goat and half-fish.

The geometry of the Sea-Goat tells us about density:

• The Fish Tail represents the deep, fluid waters of the unintegrated subconscious.

• The Goat Horns represent the physical mountain, structure, earth, and material density. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn (Chronos), the lord of time, friction, boundaries, and physical law.

Enki is the original Goat Architect, the intelligence that navigates the deep subconscious waters and builds the physical matrix. Because he bridges both realms, his archetype is inevitably split in the human psyche into two seemingly opposite figures: Lucifer and Jesus.

Enki carries both. As Lucifer, he is the serpent, the bringer of forbidden light, the catalyst pushing humanity into conscious awareness. As Jesus, he is the sacrificial savior, the one who descends into the dense physical architecture to hold the light. Both are ultimate scapegoats. The Devil (depicted as the goat-headed Baphomet) and Jesus (the sacrificial lamb or goat) are the two primary lightning rods humanity built to absorb its collective friction. The collective ego uses both to avoid doing the actual work of inner integration. We say 'Jesus paid the debt for me' to avoid looking at our own light, and we say 'The Devil made me do it' to avoid looking at our own darkness.

In Leviticus, the original “scapegoat” was a literal goat. The high priest would symbolically lay all the sins of the community onto the animal’s head and banish it into the wilderness. But archetypally, the wilderness is the unconscious mind. It is the unmapped territory outside the constructed walls of the ego.

By sending the goat into the wild, the community was literally casting its shadow into the dark, hoping the unknown would process what they could not. This is the exact origin point of the Hero’s Journey. This journey is the literal process of human evolution and the cosmic breath of life itself. It is the necessary ebb and flow of expansion and integration. To forge true individualism, the hero must first turn their back on the safety of the source, or “God,” and step into the isolation of the wilderness.

But you cannot remain lost in the wilderness. To complete the cycle, you have to descend into your own subconscious and find the exiled goat. You must confront your accumulated density and integrate it back into your being. You return to the source as a sovereign and integrated Hero.

Look even closer at the horn itself. The goat horn grows as a logarithmic spiral, the physical expression of the Fibonacci sequence, the Golden Ratio, phi. It is the universe’s preferred architecture for expansion, the same pattern in a nautilus shell, a galaxy arm, a hurricane, and the proportions of your own body. But the Fibonacci sequence is not just a growth pattern. It is a dimensional map holding 12 frequencies of light and 12 frequencies of shadow, expanding outward from a single seed point.

The horn of the Goat is literally that map made biological. Enki does not just bridge water and earth. He bridges the fluid subconscious with the mathematical architecture of dimensional expansion itself. The shadow and the light spiral outward from the same origin. This is why the Goat has always been the symbol that holds both.

But to understand how we got from that wilderness goat to the pop icons and political figures we crucify today, we have to walk the full arc of how this mechanic evolved. We also must look at the single moment in human history when someone tried to end it entirely.

Blood on the Altar: The Original Externalization Era

In the ancient world, the shadow was managed through blood. Every culture that left a written record practiced some form of sacrifice, including the Sumerian, Egyptian, Hebrew, Greek, Roman, and Aztec civilizations. The specific ritual varied, but the architecture was identical everywhere. You take the weight of what we cannot face within ourselves, place it onto something outside ourselves, and destroy it. The altar was the original projection screen.

A lamb for atonement. A bull for harvest. A dove for purification. The vessel absorbed the frequency of the unintegrated collective, taking on its fear and bearing its debt before being extinguished to restore equilibrium.

Ancient humanity did not yet possess the internal frameworks required to actually integrate this dense energy, that’s what the externalizations were for, to learn them. But they instinctively understood the physics of the system. They understood that creation operates through mitosis, and that everything is an entangled reflection. If you load a physical vessel with a specific frequency and then extinguish that vessel, you temporarily extinguish the energetic counterpart causing the friction within the collective.

Its death was meant to absorb that friction and return it to the divine. This was not just primitive superstition. It was a biological grounding wire, a functional mechanic of energetic transfer that every civilization independently arrived at.

And we have always applied this exact same architecture to human beings.

War has always been a sacrificial ritual wearing a political costume. We select a population, load them with the projection of everything we fear and despise, and then we send people to bleed that projection out on foreign soil. We project onto their otherness, their gods, their resources, and their refusal to mirror us back to ourselves. The enemy is just the scapegoat at scale. And just like the altar goat, the enemy’s destruction never actually cleared the internal friction. It just reset the pressure gauge long enough to start building toward the next war.

Human sacrifice in its most literal form operated on the same mechanic. The chosen one was elevated to the absolute peak of symbolic significance and then destroyed at that peak. The higher the pedestal, the more density it can absorb. The more density it absorbs, the more catastrophic the collapse has to be to discharge it.

We were externalizing everything. The divine was out there. The sin was out there. The cure was out there. The entire spiritual operating system of the ancient world was built on the assumption that what ailed us could be fixed by what we did out here in the physical.

This is the world Jesus walked into.

Shadow Work: Where in your own life are you currently running this mechanic? Not on a global scale, but in the intimate one. Is there a person in your immediate world, a partner, a parent, a colleague, a friend, that you have quietly loaded with the weight of a shadow you haven't yet learned to recognize within yourself? What would change if you stopped sending that weight outward and sat with it instead?

The Last Scapegoat: Jesus and the Announcement of a New Paradigm

Here is what gets lost when we reduce Jesus to theology. He was not just a sacrifice. He was the announcement that the sacrifice era was over.

Jesus walked into the Temple and flipped the tables. He physically dismantled the machinery of externalized atonement. He cleared the floor of the transaction. And then, in the chaos that followed, he announced that the temple acting as the external container for the divine was now ours to hold. The new architecture was the physical body, the interior, and the self. The kingdom of God is no longer found out there in the institution, the ritual, or the bloodshed, but entirely within you.

Ten thousand years of externalizing the shadow onto altars and scapegoats was not a mistake, it was a required sequence in our evolution. We had to build the frameworks outside of ourselves before we could comprehend how to run them internally. We must honor the profound weight of those ancient sacrifices, because they mapped the exact architectural blueprint we needed to survive our own density. But Jesus was announcing that the external sequence was complete. It was simply time to initiate the next sequence.

He then forced a system error. He allowed the collective to project the massive weight of their unintegrated density onto him, yet he refused to validate the transaction. The crucifixion was not just a cosmic debt payment, but also a demonstration of a catastrophic structural failure. He let the vessel be destroyed solely to prove to the collective that killing the avatar never actually clears the sickness. The system fails when we turn projection into a permanent avoidance strategy.

Consciousness expands through a process of spiritual mitosis, and we are now at the threshold where integration is not optional. It is the next required movement. When you align your internal frequency with this collective expansion, you synchronize with the master flow. When you refuse to evolve, you generate massive internal drag.

Look at King Saul. He fought the shifting frequency, clinging desperately to his unintegrated density and political power, and went mad under the weight of his own density. This was simply the physics of his own misalignment, the literal biological feedback of being violently off track. Saul was meant to distort by resisting the flow, just as David was meant to find his flow by surrendering to it. Together they map a spectrum of human consciousness and the necessary friction it generates, to act as a mirror for us.

This is the exact spectrum Jesus stepped into to resolve. His entire ministry was an operating manual for shadow integration and every teaching pointed inward. Forgiveness is not a moral command but a psychological protocol for reclaiming your own trapped energy. Loving your neighbor is not an ethical plea but a lesson in cosmological physics. Your neighbor is the organic projection screen catching the exact frequency of your unintegrated shadow. To condemn them is to bleed your own unprocessed density onto another vessel, ensuring the sickness stays locked in the system and cycles back to you every single time. He was not teaching kindness. He was teaching people how to stop poisoning themselves.

And what did we do the moment he was gone? We turned the last scapegoat into a permanent one. We externalized the teacher because we did not yet possess the architecture to internalize the teaching.

From Paradigm Shift to Projection Screen: The Expansion Era

What Jesus announced was the beginning of an integration era. What we entered instead was the most explosive expansion era in human history.

The last two thousand years have been the full outward breath of human consciousness. We mapped the globe, built empires, industrialized the planet, and launched ourselves into space. We built entire external systems to manage every internal experience: externalizing science, government, religion, medicine, and psychology. Grief became pathology. Shadow became sin. The body became a machine, and the divine became an institution.

Every tool of the expansion era was pointed outward. Even our inner work was packaged and sold as a product you consumed from an external source.

But there is a strict physics to evolution. To expand the perimeter without integrating the foundation is not growth; it is a spiritual malignancy. Our evolutionary sequence is a 1-9 architecture, with 9 acting as the completed cell of the 8 archetypes. If we fail to balance our shadows, the cell fractures under the weight of its own unintegrated mass.

We are at the end of the breath now. The integration era is not coming. It is here. This is why the systemic collapse is happening across every spectrum. It is why the projections are louder than ever, why the scapegoats are burning faster, and why the vessels we use to carry our energetic debt keep collapsing under a psychic weight no human was designed to hold.

The New Gods: The Pantheon of the G.O.A.T.

We haven’t outgrown this ancient Babylonian architecture. We just moved it to Hollywood and arenas. Today, we literally call the pinnacle of human achievement the G.O.A.T.

When we crown someone the G.O.A.T., we are projecting our own unactualized potential and our desperate need for a hero onto a fragile human vessel. But the highest potential creates the densest shadow. Praise is just as heavy as hatred. It is still a massive projection of psychic weight.

Artists like Mac Miller spent their entire careers documenting this exact architecture. He constantly spoke about being the GOAT while simultaneously writing track after track about subconscious integration, isolation, and literally drowning in his density. Like the fish tail of Capricorn, he was diving deep into the fluid subconscious, reaching the zenith of his potential. But the sheer velocity of the collective projection and his own unintegrated friction ultimately broke the hardware. This is not to minimize the brutal, grounded reality of addiction and mental health. Rather, it is to recognize that the vessel took on too much water. He imploded under the compounding weight of chemical dependency and the massive psychic pedestal we placed him on.

Consider Michael Jackson. He became the ultimate scapegoat for our collective wounded child. Because his own childhood was structurally denied, his energetic architecture was perfectly shaped to hold space for the unintegrated innocence of the masses. We projected all our unresolved exploitation and lost magic onto him, building a massive Peter Pan avatar. Eventually, the sheer density of that projection crushed the human beneath it, leaving behind only the fractured reflection of what we were unable to heal in ourselves.

On the other end of the spectrum, we see artists actively and consciously utilizing this architecture. Take the anonymous frontman of Sleep Token, who quite literally calls himself “Vessel”. He is a modern, active embodiment of Enki’s energy, the one that holds both the immense Shadow and the boundless Potential. He willingly acts as the grounding wire for the collective’s density. In Even In Arcadia, we hear this exact progression mapped out: the transformation from bearing the crushing weight of the cross to fully integrating the shadow into the embodied, actualized self.

The Political Vessel: Mirror vs. Scapegoat

When a society reaches a critical mass of unacknowledged chaos, fear, and ancestral tension, it searches for a political avatar to ground that energy. And every era produces one. We elevate a figure so polarizing, so magnetically charged with the collective’s unprocessed material, that simply saying their name splits a room.

To understand what is actually happening beneath the media circus surrounding any such figure, we have to understand the profound difference between a mirror and a scapegoat.

A mirror demands accountability. If society looks at a controversial figure and realizes they represent our own unbridled greed, our unexamined biases, and our obsession with image, then society has to do the agonizing, ego-destroying work of dismantling those traits within itself.

A scapegoat offers a shortcut. It allows the collective ego to point a finger and say the sickness is entirely out there, localized in this one specific person. If we just defeat this vessel, we are cured. It provides the euphoric high of righteous indignation without requiring a single ounce of self-reflection. When we choose the scapegoat route, we ensure the political cycle will just spawn another avatar to carry the exact same shadow the next decade.

This brings us right back to the geometric symbol of the cross, the crux. A cross is literally the intersection point of opposing forces, where the maximum tension and load are concentrated. When we elevate a political scapegoat, we are placing a human being squarely at that intersection. It is a structural demonstration that outsourcing your shadow to a savior or a villain is a failed mechanic. It destroys the avatar while leaving the collective sickness completely intact. You cannot outsource your shadow. You have to go within and clear your own cache.

Shadow Work: Think of the public figure who provokes the strongest reaction in you, whether that is worship or contempt. Strip away the politics, the media, the noise. If that person is functioning as a mirror rather than a villain or a savior, what is the reflection actually showing you? What part of your own unintegrated shadow are you most relieved to see localized in someone else?

The G-Force of the Scapegoat

This projection mechanism generates a literal, physical weight.

If you read my recent piece, The Gravity of Consciousness, you already have the framework to understand exactly how this physically impacts a vessel. In that essay, we explored how our physical reality is essentially an informational shadow cast down by our higher awareness. When we fail to integrate our emotional and psychological experiences, they accumulate in our biology as Trauma Density. We are forced to carry this unintegrated shadow, dragging it through spacetime and generating a literal G-force on our cells that I call Temporal Friction.

Now, apply this physics to the mechanics of the scapegoat.

When a society refuses to integrate its own shadow, it is refusing to process its collective Trauma Density. Instead of doing the internal work to achieve Zero Density, the masses project their unintegrated density onto a single human vessel.

When hundreds of millions of people outsource their Temporal Friction onto one localized target, the G-force is astronomical. The body of the vessel becomes a living map of everything it has been asked to carry. The unresolved emotional weight pools where it can no longer be denied, the grip on reality is visibly worn down by the friction of millions of transactional energetic exchanges, and the bridge between mind and body is inflamed by the collective distortion of truth it is forced to conduct.

The Mitosis of Prayer: Reclaiming the Present

This brings us to a piece of ancestral wisdom that has been completely lost in the modern era.

Consciousness expands through a process of spiritual and dimensional mitosis. It is the deliberate division, replication, and expansion of the divine code within us. The collective mitosis of all things is what we call God. When you enter a state of sincere prayer or deep meditation, you are actively plugging your localized awareness directly back into that master collective mitosis.

The neuroscience of prayer backs this up perfectly. The moment you shift into deep prayer, the amygdala powers down. Simultaneously, the prefrontal cortex lights up. Your brain physically shifts out of the jagged, chaotic frequency of Beta waves and drops into the smooth, coherent rhythm of Alpha and Theta waves.

Push that state even deeper, into peak transcendental meditation, and the architecture reveals itself entirely. When modern neuroscience hooks EEG monitors to monks in these profound states of integration, a massive surge of coherent Gamma waves lights up the scan in a jagged, glowing ring around the head. An energetic crown of thorns. The highest state of human consciousness, the fully integrated mind, literally mirrors the very burden we forced the ultimate scapegoat to wear.

Why does this matter for the scapegoat, the G.O.A.T., or whatever vessel we have built to carry our density? Because we are an entangled system.

When you hate the scapegoat or blindly worship the idol, your amygdala fires. You are actively feeding the very frequency of fear, judgment, and density that is crushing them. You are adding weight to the cross.

But when you pray for them, or consciously withdraw your projection, you are pulling your shadow back. By shifting your own nervous system into coherence, you achieve a state of Zero Density, withdrawing your contribution to the collective friction. You are fundamentally altering the frequency of the network, relieving the pressure on the vessel, and forcing the collective energy to balance itself rather than demanding one Goat carry the weight of the world.

This is the mitosis of prayer. Not a petition to something outside of you. Not a transaction at an altar. A deliberate act of reclamation, pulling your projected energy back into its origin point. Every time you choose coherence over projection, you are taking the exact evolutionary step that ten thousand years of blood, altars, and crowned avatars were always building toward.

You are actually clearing the cache.

Your grandparents knew this. They said to pay for the Present and pray for the President, not because they agreed with the politics, but because they understood the mechanics of the system at a bone-deep level. To pray for the vessel is to reclaim your own density. It is the most structurally radical thing a human being can do in a world still running ancient software.

The work was never out there, and now that you can see the architecture, you can use it to build your foundation.

Not from a religious angle — from a consciousness one. Jesus was one of the most sophisticated teachers of integration and embodiment that has ever lived, and I think we lose a lot of what he was actually saying when we frame him only through religion.

So I picked five of my favorite scriptures and sat with what they mean to me personally — through the lens of shadow work, the subconscious mind, and what it actually looks like to move through this life with awareness.

We cover the forgiveness prayer from the cross. The serpents and doves paradox. The washing of feet. The Garden of Gethsemane. And the table that has room for everyone — especially the parts of yourself you’ve been leaving at the door.

The Genesis of a Shadow: The Making of Ed Gein

To understand Ed Gein is to gaze into the abyss of human isolation and ideological extremity. He was not born a monster; he was forged in a crucible of profound abuse and religious fanaticism.

Born in 1906, Ed was raised on a remote 155-acre farm in Plainfield, Wisconsin. His father, George, was a violent, chronic alcoholic who routinely beat Ed so severely that the boy’s ears would ring. But the true architect of Ed’s psychological prison was his mother, Augusta. A fanatically religious woman, Augusta wielded her beliefs like a weapon, preaching daily from the Old Testament about divine retribution. She indoctrinated Ed with the belief that the outside world was a cesspool of sin, that all women were instruments of the devil, and that sex was inherently evil.

Augusta systematically isolated her sons. Ed, who suffered from a lazy eye, a speech impediment, and crippling shyness, was mercilessly bullied at school. Yet, whenever he attempted to make friends, Augusta severely punished him, reinforcing her narrative that outsiders were a threat to his purity. Ed became trapped in a state of arrested emotional development—a boy completely subjugated by his mother, idolizing the very woman who was psychologically terrorizing him. Imagine the agony of being a child locked in that farmhouse, desperately seeking love from a mother who viewed your very existence, your very biology, as a sin.

The Break: A Mind Seeking Equilibrium

By the end of 1945, Ed’s father was dead. His older brother Henry had died under highly suspicious circumstances during a brush fire—an event many believe was Ed’s first violent outburst after Henry dared to criticize Augusta. Shortly after, Augusta suffered a series of fatal strokes.

At 39 years old, Ed was left entirely alone in a sprawling, unheated farmhouse. He boarded up his mother’s rooms, preserving them as a pristine shrine, while he retreated into a squalid, cluttered little room off the kitchen. He was a man with the emotional mentality of an eight-year-old child, living in a museum of ghosts.

To understand the horrific psychological break that followed, we must view it through the Perceptual Distortion Spectrum. Our subconscious does not aim to see objective reality; its primary job is to validate the reality we already believe. For decades, Ed’s reality was held in a state of extreme Contractive Distortion (B-3), characterized by submission, self-erasure, and blind obedience to his mother’s dogma. He had surrendered all agency to her.

When Augusta died, his foundational paradox—that he needed his abuser to survive—was shattered. To restore equilibrium to his shattered mind, his subconscious violently flipped. He could not process the pain of his reality, so his mind created an expansive, highly distorted alternate reality (B3). Driven by intense loneliness and auditory hallucinations of his mother’s voice, Ed began visiting local cemeteries, slipping into dissociative “dazes” to exhume the bodies of middle-aged women who resembled Augusta. His goal was not sexual gratification—he vehemently denied necrophilia, noting the bodies “smelled too bad”. Rather, his subconscious drove him to literally reconstruct his mother, attempting to restore psychological equilibrium by bringing her back from the dead.

The Descent and the Aftermath

When the dead were no longer enough, the internal pressure boiled over into the realm of the living. Ed crossed the ultimate threshold, murdering 51-year-old tavern owner Mary Hogan in 1954, and 58-year-old hardware store owner Bernice Worden in 1957. Both women physically resembled his mother.

When police entered Gein’s home in 1957, they found Bernice Worden’s decapitated body. They also found the unspeakable artifacts of Ed’s distorted mind: bowls made of skulls, chairs upholstered in human skin, and a “woman suit”—a vest of female skin and body parts. He confessed that he wore this suit to literally “crawl into her skin” and become his mother.

The justice system recognized the profound break from reality. Ed was diagnosed with schizophrenia and initially deemed mentally unfit for trial. When finally tried in 1968, he was found guilty of murder but declared legally insane. He spent the remaining 30 years of his life in psychiatric wards—first at Central State Hospital, then Mendota Mental Health Institute. In the structured, safe environment of the hospital, the “monster” evaporated. Stripped of the environmental triggers of his trauma, Ed became a “mild-mannered,” “model patient,” spending his final decades quietly working as a carpenter’s assistant and a mason until his death in 1984.

An Archetypal Evaluation

Using the Archetype Framework, we can map the tragic interplay of energy that created the Butcher of Plainfield:

• Augusta (Distorted Order & Protection): Augusta operated in the dark shadow of the Order archetype, degenerating into the Tyrant. She demanded absolute compliance, micromanaging Ed’s environment out of a profound fear of the unknown. She also embodied distorted Protection (the Smothering Mother), requiring Ed to remain weak, isolated, and dependent so she could remain the absolute center of his universe.

• George (Distorted Chaos): George embodied the dark side of Chaos—destructive, alcoholic unpredictability that brought only pain and instability to the home, cementing Ed’s reliance on his mother’s rigid Order.

• Ed (Distorted Connection to Distorted Creation): Ed was entirely consumed by pathological Connection (Enmeshment). He abandoned his own sovereign boundaries to merge entirely with his mother. Upon her death, terrified of the Isolation that enmeshment inevitably attracts, his psyche violently overcompensated. He channeled his energy into the distorted Creation archetype—becoming the dark Creator. He utilized his handyman skills not to build life, but to frantically craft a sterile, macabre construct of human flesh to replace his lost god.

• The Victims: Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden were tragic proxies. They represented the unintegrated Shadow of Augusta—women who physically resembled her, but who possessed traits (like running a tavern or being independent business owners) that Augusta would have condemned as sinful. By killing them, Ed was simultaneously reclaiming his mother and subconsciously destroying the tyrant who ruined him.

The Hollywood Distortion: Feeding the Shadow

This brings us to the recent Netflix series, Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Rather than telling the deeply human, tragic story of a broken, schizophrenic mind, the creators chose to sensationalize and distort the truth.

The show did an absolute injustice to both Ed and his victims by turning him into a calculating slasher villain. The series completely fabricated a scene where Ed murders teenage babysitter Evelyn Hartley with a hammer. It invented a sequence where he chases and slaughters hunters with a chainsaw—a weapon the real Ed Gein never used. It fabricated a romantic, necrophilic relationship with a woman named Adeline Watkins, depicting her as an accomplice. It even invented a scenario where Gein helps FBI agents profile Ted Bundy.

Why does Hollywood do this, and why do we accept it? Because it is easier to look at a fictionalized, chainsaw-wielding boogeyman than it is to look at a mentally ill, abused child who fell through the cracks of society. By amplifying the gore and fabricating sensationalist connections, Hollywood stretches the narrative into Expansive Distortion (B3)—using dogma and manipulation for entertainment and profit.

When we consume this without critical thought, we feed our collective shadow. We create separation. We tell ourselves, “He is a monster, and we are normal.” But there is a fine line between artistic choice and absolute falsehood. When we allow media to turn real human tragedy into campy, bloody spectacle, we distance ourselves from the systemic neglect, the mental illness, and the domestic abuse that actually caused the tragedy. We must face our shadow with honesty if we are ever to integrate it and prevent these manifestations from occurring in our communities.

Deep Shadow Work: The Mirror of Plainfield

I invite you now to take a deep, unflinching look at yourself. Ed Gein’s story is an extreme, macroscopic manifestation of the microscopic distortions we all carry.

How are we wearing fake skin? Ed literally wore the skin of others to appease the narrative of his dead mother. Where in your life are you wearing a “false self” to appease a tyrannical boss, a demanding parent, or societal expectations?. How often do we prioritize external compliance over our own authentic integration?

How are we enmeshed? Where have you abandoned your own sovereign boundaries to merge with a partner, an ideology, or a political party out of a desperate fear of abandonment?.

Where do we neglect our children and our neighbors? Ed Gein was a boy who came to school crying, beaten by an alcoholic father, hindered by a speech impediment and a lazy eye. The town of Plainfield looked the other way. How often do we turn a blind eye to the neglected, the strange, the neurodivergent, or the traumatized in our own backyards because it is uncomfortable to intervene?

How do we project our fears? When we watch shows that twist a pathetic, sick man into a criminal mastermind, how are we projecting our own unintegrated fears onto him? The true horror is not that Ed Gein was a mastermind; the horror is that he was a man acting entirely out of a desperate, twisted attempt to restore equilibrium to a mind shattered by trauma.

How do we create dogma and spiritually bypass? Augusta Gein used religion to emotionally destroy her son. How do we weaponize our own beliefs—be they religious, spiritual, or political—to control others? How often do we practice “toxic positivity” or spiritual bypassing to avoid looking at our own dark, uncomfortable emotions?. When we suppress the “dark” energies—our own healthy anger, our need for boundaries—we force them into the shadow, where they fester and warp.

How do we sell out for entertainment? We cast the first stone at the “Butcher of Plainfield,” yet we willingly pay subscriptions to watch corporations desecrate his reality and the memories of Bernice Worden and Mary Hogan for our evening thrill. We consume their trauma as content. Where else in your life are you consuming another’s pain for your own validation or entertainment?

Conclusion: Integration and Validation

To do the true work of psychological inquiry is to hold the tension of opposites. We validate the profound suffering and the tragic, unfair loss of Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden—two women whose lives were violently stolen. We validate the horror of what occurred in that farmhouse.

But to achieve wholeness, we must also validate the broken humanity of Edward Gein. We must reestablish our relationship to him not as a mythical ghoul, but as a tragic reflection of what happens when a mind is subjected to absolute isolation, abuse, and the unchecked distortion of reality.

If we are to heal the collective psyche, we must stop outsourcing our darkness to Hollywood monsters. We must reclaim our projections, strip off our fake skin, and examine the hidden corners of our own minds. Only through the honest, unglamorous, and often painful light of radical self-awareness can we integrate the shadow, ensure the safety of our communities, and finally bring peace to the ghosts we carry.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the physical manifestations of our inner worlds: why we age at different rates, why we often share physical similarities with those we share trauma with, and how these factors shape the reality we create. I am not presenting this as dogmatic truth, but rather as a living hypothesis—a synthesis of quantum physics, non-equilibrium thermodynamics, and deep psychology designed to spark conversation and our collective evolution.

Traditionally, we view aging and time as a static, objective progression—a ticking clock that wears down the body at a constant rate. But what if time, gravity, and aging are not things that simply happen to us? What if they are physical forces generated by us?

Through the intersection of multidimensional topology, quantum biology, and deep psychology, we arrive at a Relativistic Theory of Temporal Friction. At its core, this theory argues that consciousness generates its own localized gravitational field. The physical reality we navigate is an informational shadow cast down by our higher states of awareness; when we leave the experiences within this shadow unintegrated, they accumulate as literal physical density. Aging, therefore, is simply the thermodynamic wear-and-tear of dragging this heavy, unresolved informational field through spacetime.

1. The Observer as a Gravitational Engine

To understand this framework, we must abandon the idea of an objective, observer-independent universe. Reality functions as a fractal, observer-dependent projection that is geometrically structured as a localized toroidal (doughnut-shaped) field. You exist exactly at the zero-point singularity of this torus—the center where infinite possibility collapses into your specific 3D perception.

This collapse is biologically driven. According to the Orchestrated Objective Reduction (Orch-OR) model, your consciousness operates via quantum entanglement within the microtubules of your brain’s cells. As these quantum states reach a specific threshold of gravitational self-energy (defined by the Diósi-Penrose equation), they collapse, creating a discrete moment of conscious experience. In short: biological cognition is tethered directly to the gravitational architecture of the universe. You are quite literally a localized gravitational engine, continuously pulling the wave of possibilities into the dense particle of physical reality.

2. The Holographic Shadow and the Pull of Density

If you are the localized engine projecting reality, where does the blueprint come from? Through the lens of the Holographic Principle, our 3D physical reality is actually a lower-dimensional projection—an “informational shadow”—cast down by our own higher states of consciousness.

Our higher consciousness casts this dense, 3D shadow so that we can navigate it, learn from it, and ultimately integrate it to ascend back to the state that cast it. We are meant to process the experiences, emotions, and ancestral programs we encounter.

However, what happens when we fail to integrate this information? It doesn’t disappear; it gets stored in our biology as Trauma Density. This density is heavily archived within our DNA through epigenetics, creating a literal physical weight. When we refuse to integrate the shadow, we are forced to carry it. The more unintegrated experience we carry, the heavier the shadow becomes. You end up continuously dragging this thick, unresolved informational field through spacetime, generating a constant, self-induced G-force that we experience as biological friction.

3. The G-Force of Aging (A Thermodynamic Collapse)

When you carry high Trauma Density, your system must expend massive amounts of energy to constantly recalculate and resist the weight of this unintegrated information. Over time, you are dragging a heavy informational shadow through space, generating a self-induced “G-force” on your own cells.

In thermodynamics, life is defined by its ability to resist entropy (decay) by maintaining “homochirality”—perfectly structured, high-energy protein arrangements. However, as the G-force of your Trauma Density increases, your biological oscillators face “allostatic overload”. The system can no longer handle the energetic weight of the processing, causing your cells to undergo a geometric phase shift. They collapse from their perfect, directed biological structure into non-enzymatic, spontaneous decay—losing their perfect shape and turning into dysfunctional proteins like amyloids.

Aging, therefore, is not just the passage of chronological time. It is the relativistic rate of wear caused by the Temporal Friction of your own unintegrated psychology.

4. The Ancestral Drag and the Collective Mirror

Crucially, this density is not just individual; it is inherited and shared. We inherit the unintegrated “shadows” of past generations through telomere transmission, meaning many are born with “Ancestral Drag”—starting life chronologically young but biologically older due to high inherited density.

Furthermore, we age at the frequency of our social environment. When individuals share a common, high-stress reality, their heart rates and neuroendocrine levels synchronize. In “trauma-bonded” groups with high social friction, collective cortisol remains elevated, creating a shared “aging frequency”. Every unintegrated tension in your social orbit literally accelerates your biological clock.

5. Achieving “Zero Density” and De-Compressing the Timeline

If aging and density are a product of unintegrated information and temporal friction, then longevity and healing must involve achieving “Zero Density”.

Biologically, the Prefrontal Cortex (PFC) acts as the brake on this temporal friction. When we enter “Flow States”—states of deep focus, integration, and presence—the PFC undergoes transient hypofrontality, temporarily quieting the drag of rumination. This creates a literal state of Zero Density: inflammation drops, the heart rhythm entrains with the breath, and the body is flooded with restorative neurochemicals.

By discharging unintegrated trauma and spending more time in coherent Flow States, the biological organism can bypass the “G-force” of daily stressors. You effectively neutralize the gravitational friction acting upon your cells, de-compressing your timeline and slowing the rate of biological decay.

We are not passively decaying in an objective world; we are actively navigating an observer-dependent reality where our psychological weight dictates our physical geometry. The Lens of Expectation

The answer isn’t a lack of intelligence or love. It’s a problem of perception.

Since childhood, every disciple had been programmed with a powerful narrative: the Messiah would be a conquering king, a political liberator who would drive out Rome and restore Israel’s glory. This story wasn’t just an idea; it was the lens through which they saw the world.

So, when Jesus spoke of a Messiah who would suffer and die, the message couldn’t get through. It didn’t fit their pre-installed software. Their subconscious wasn’t just influencing their hearing; it was filtering reality itself. They weren’t seeing the man in front of them. They were seeing the story they expected.

The Dust of Old Stories

Ancient texts often use dust as a metaphor for this kind of blindness. Humanity is formed from dust and returns to it (Genesis 3:19)—it represents our mortal, limited state. The serpent, a symbol of deception, is condemned to eat dust. Dust is the residue of old patterns, the grime that accumulates on the lens of perception.

This is precisely how our subconscious programming works. It covers our vision, making us act out inherited scripts we never consciously chose.

When Jesus says from the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34), it’s not just a plea for mercy. It’s a profound psychological diagnosis. They are acting from dust. From a lens so clouded they cannot see the reality in front of them.

Washing the Feet

This deep-seated blindness is why the scene of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet is so potent (John 13). On the surface, it’s an act of humility. Symbolically, it’s the solution to the entire problem.

Feet are what touch the ground. They are what get caked in the dust of the world. By washing their feet, Jesus is performing a symbolic cleansing of their perception. He is tending to the part of them that has been clouded by worldly scripts and old stories.

Peter’s resistance is telling: “You shall never wash my feet.” He’s still clinging to the old power dynamic, the old story.

Jesus’s reply is absolute: “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” (John 13:8). In psychological terms: Unless you allow these subconscious filters to be cleansed, you cannot truly connect with reality. You will remain trapped in your story and miss the truth standing right here.

The Invitation

The disciples’ story is our story. We are all born into a world that hands us scripts—about success, love, spirituality, and ourselves. These narratives form a lens of dust that shapes our reality, often without our consent. We project our expectations onto our partners, filter our children’s actions through our own fears, and reject truths that don’t align with our internal narratives.

We, too, are often blind to what stands right before us.

The story of washing the feet is therefore not a historical anecdote but a timeless invitation. It is a call to the work of clearing our own perception. To consciously examine the dust—the inherited beliefs, the subconscious patterns, the old stories—and to let it be washed away.

The work isn’t to find some new, hidden truth “out there.” It is to clean the lens so we can finally see what has been here all along.

The question is not whether truth is present. The question is, are we willing to see it?

This framework challenges us to redefine empathy. It isn’t just a force for good; it’s a fundamental energy of human connection—a neutral and dualistic force that can be wielded for either creation or destruction. Recognizing this helps us restore balance to our understanding of the human condition, moving beyond the simplistic idea that some people are simply “monsters” without feeling.

The Two Core Energies: A Dynamic Balance

The Empathy Wheel’s core concept is the interplay between Light Energy and Dark Energy. This isn’t a moral judgment, but a expression of two distinct energies of connection.

• Light Energy is expansive. It’s the force of ignition and growth, seeking to illuminate and share. In a positive quadrant, this manifests as healthy, symbiotic connection—empathy used to give and connect freely. It’s the moment you feel genuine joy for a friend’s success. In a negative quadrant, it’s when someone gives away their energy without boundaries or protection, leaving them vulnerable to manipulation and control.

• Dark Energy is contractive. It’s the force of integration and absorption, pulling inward for its own purposes. In the negative quadrant, this is empathy used to take—consuming without permission. It’s the energy of distorted connection, where one person’s needs are met at the expense of another’s well-being. In the positive quadrant, it’s the act of setting boundaries to protect one’s energy, of choosing who has access and when.

You can see how expansive Light and contractive Dark are meant to collide and restore balance. But unfortunately, in high-profile cases—especially those steeped in power and visibility—it’s often the negative darkness that wins.

The goal is for these energies to maintain a dynamic equilibrium. The Empathy Wheel suggests that both energies are always present. When distorted dark energy is allowed to dominate, it creates a black hole, consuming everything around it—a state of profound psychological imbalance, therefore attracting those of a distorted light aspect to restore balance. This is how killers who are in these dark distorted empathetic states, will attract those who are in a distorted light space, to restore energetic balance.

The Three Quadrants of Empathic Distortion

The wheel’s three quadrants—Emotional, Cognitive, and Physical—are how these energies manifest in our interactions. A killer doesn’t lack these; they simply operate from a profoundly distorted place within each.

• Cognitive Empathy (Understanding): A well-adjusted person uses this to understand another’s perspective. A killer like Ted Bundy used it to gain an intellectual advantage. He didn’t care about his victims’ feelings; he calculated them, understanding their vulnerabilities to better manipulate them. This isn’t a lack of understanding—it’s understanding weaponized.

• Emotional Empathy (Feeling): We typically associate this with shared emotions. However, a person operating from a place of Dark Energy uses a corrupted form of this. They may mirror emotions to build a false sense of rapport. Bundy was known for feigning injury or distress to lure victims, triggering their compassion and drawing them in. This is a taking of emotional energy, not a sharing of it.

• Physical Empathy (Sensing): This quadrant is about the physical and energetic connection between people. In a healthy relationship, this might be a comforting touch. In a distorted one, it’s about sensing weakness and taking energy from another. A killer doesn’t lack the ability to sense a person’s presence; they use it to target and consume their life force, completing the ultimate act of Dark Energy absorption.

A Grounded, Psychological Framework

By using the Empathy Wheel, we can see that a person like Bundy wasn’t an alien monster. He was a human being who operated from a place of profound psychological distortion, where Dark Energy had consumed the Light.

This framework helps us understand that horrific events are not the result of a missing ingredient (empathy), but of a perverted one. It restores the balance to our understanding of the human condition by acknowledging that even in the darkest corners, the fundamental energies of connection are still at play. The distortion lies in how they are used. By redefining empathy in this way, we can better understand the root of disconnection and, ultimately, begin to restore our own sense of balance.

Call to Action

I feel that adopting this framework can help us better understand human behavior, be self aware in our own distortion and protection against those living in distortion. I think this framework can be used to help diagnose mental health patients and can clear up a lot of confusion in our current research with empathy. We can integrate this framework into education, leadership training, and media literacy to build a culture that understands empathy’s full spectrum — and safeguards against its misuse. It’s also important to add that we need to understand that we each individually have the capacity to exist on this entire spectrum, and in acknowledging that, we can properly integrate the knowledge to truly balance the energies.

• Why do two people witness the same event and leave with totally different realities?

These questions fascinate me. And the deeper I’ve gone into cases, psychology, and human behavior, the more I’ve realized that your subconscious does not aim to see objective reality. It aims to validate the reality you already believe.

The Perceptual Distortion Spectrum maps how that validation warps perception, from subtle filters, like interpreting a partner’s silence as rejection, to full-blown alternate realities, like believing an entire fabricated narrative so deeply that we act on it, even in ways that harm ourselves or others. Once you see these patterns, they become tools for discernment and intervention.

This first post is your visual guide to that spectrum — a tool we’ll keep coming back to as we dive deeper. We’ll explore how distortion shows up in crime, however this tool can be used to see distortions in politics, religion, and even our personal lives.

What is Reality?

Our perception isn’t just what we see, think or feel, it’s what our subconscious decides is true. Your subconscious doesn’t care if your reality is true or moral, because it’s not perceiving reality, it projecting it. Its job is to protect your narrative in order to preserve your paradox. When this paradox is threatened, your subconscious can flip the spectrum as a desperate attempt to maintain the narrative and restore balance. Chris Watts, for example, spent too much time in his dogmatic state. Imagining what his life could be like, until his subconscious flipped to his evil perspective to restore balance. Chris then returned to neutral and regretted his choices, and still can not discuss details out of shame and pain.

If your narrative says, I’m unworthy, your subconscious will filter every experience through that lens, highlighting rejection and ignoring acceptance.

If your narrative says, These people are dangerous, your subconscious will find evidence, even where none objectively exists, and will act from that distorted belief.

This is why we can witness actions that seem illogical from the outside, yet are entirely rational within the perpetrator’s distorted worldview. This is particularly evident in the deceptive narratives criminals present to law enforcement, where illogical reasoning is often easily exposed as a lie.

The Spectrum and States of Consciousness

Distortion isn’t good or bad on its own; it’s simply a measure of how far we’ve deviated from a neutral state. This deviation can move in two main ways:

• Contractive Distortion (B−1→B−3): This is when your perception tightens inward, making you feel restricted or minimized. It’s driven by fear, a need for control, and avoidance.

• Expansive Distortion (B1→B3): This is when your perception stretches outward, often feeling exaggerated or open. This is driven by over-idealism, a loss of grounding, and dogma.

Neutrality (N): The Integrated Hub

• Neutrality is the central point of the spectrum, where distortion is minimized.

• It is a state of clarity and mindfulness, an active practice of reflection and integration.

The spectrum is divided into seven blocks (B−3↔N↔B3), each representing a different state of consciousness.

• B1 & B-1: The Conscious, Low-Distortion Lanes

  • These blocks represent states of mindfulness and presence.

  • Individuals in these states are grounded in reality and actively engage in reflection (B−1) and creative expression (B1).

  • Perception is relatively close to the truth, though still influenced by personal filters.

• B2 & B-2: The In-Between State

  • At these levels, individuals are only partially aware, drifting in and out of conscious states.

  • Their subconscious begins to influence their perception of reality.

  • B-2 (Contractive): Reality is narrowed to feel safe, driven by anxiety and a mistrust of personal freedoms.

  • B2 (Expansive): Reality is stretched to fit an idealized story, driven by utopian thinking and an inability to acknowledge practical realities.

• B3 & B-3: The Subconscious Extremes

  • These are states of extreme distortion where the subconscious is in full control.

  • The conscious self takes a back seat, resulting in an immersion in a distorted truth, fully influenced by filters and completely detached from reality.

  • B-3: “Evil” (Non-Permissioned Force): This is the highest contractive distortion, where reality is filtered almost entirely through fears and personal projections. It involves outward harm to eliminate a perceived threat and validate an inner narrative.

  • B3: “Dogma” (Permissioned Manipulation): This is the highest expansive distortion. It’s a rigid, absolute belief system used to manipulate others into choosing harm by exploiting their emotional wounds. It can be dogma cloaked as enlightenment or truth.

Spectrum Dynamics: The Unintegrated Self

• Spectrum Flipping: The most destructive pattern is spectrum flipping, where a person’s subconscious rapidly shifts between the B3 and B-3 extremes in an attempt to balance the observers reality by validating it with its opposing extreme. The subconscious mind is in full control and the observer is no longer present—taking a back seat, as the subconscious tries to regain control of their paradigm until its safe for the observer to return. This would explain blacking out or going in and out of consciousness during these evil acts.

• The Fragmented Self: In a state of terminal distortion, a person can live with multiple, non-communicating realities. A part of the self capable of performing healthy love can be completely disconnected from the part that commits extreme, distorted acts. This is evident in the case of Chris Watts and Ted Bundy.

• Terminal Distortion: In this state, an individual’s distorted narrative is so deeply entrenched that even facing objective consequences like imprisonment or death isn’t enough to trigger a return to neutrality. They become permanently fused with their narrative and are incapable of genuine remorse, like in the case of Ted Bundy.

Examples of Distortion in Society

• Expansion Distortions (B1 → B3): Overpowering, controlling, manipulative — acting on others without compassion.

• Contraction Distortions (B-1 → B-3): Submission, self-erasure, blind obedience — acting against self out of fear, guilt, or shame.

• Neutrality (0): Clarity without distortion; compassion without codependence; balanced awareness of self and others.

Takeaways

The Anatomy of the Shadow: How the Mirror is Made

To understand the collective shadow, we must look at how we process reality. Just as an individual psyche represses traumatic memories or unacceptable impulses into the subconscious, the collective psyche represses “dark” truths it cannot face into the Collective Unconscious.

When a society insists on a “Persona” of absolute purity—claiming to be the “Good Nation” or the “Righteous Cause”—it inevitably creates a shadow. Jung warned that “the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is”. This repressed material creates a “snag,” a blockage of psychic energy that doesn’t just vanish; it waits.

In the modern era, this collective unconscious has found a physical body: The Internet. The internet is no longer just a tool; it is the visible, externalized collective unconscious, scrolling our dreams, desires, and shame in real-time. It has accelerated the projection of our shadow, allowing us to witness the fragmentation of the human soul on a global scale.

But seeing the shadow isn’t enough. We must learn to transmute it.

The Three Stages of Energetic Alchemy

To stop the cycle of unconscious manifestation, we must move the energy of the shadow through three distinct stages of evolution. These mirror the Great Work of ancient alchemy: the transmutation of lead (heavy, unconscious matter) into gold (enlightened consciousness).

1. Nigredo (The Blackening): Physical Alchemy

This is the stage of confrontation. When a “monster” (a murderer, a tyrant, a predator) manifests, the immediate imperative is physical containment. We use laws, prisons, and borders to stop the hemorrhaging of the social body.

This stage is necessary for survival, but it is limited. It treats the symptom, not the cause. If we stop here—as most modern societies do—we remove the “Actor” but leave the void that invited him, ensuring the shadow simply recruits a new figure to take his place.

2. Albedo (The Whitening): Emotional Alchemy

This is the stage of reaction and expression. It corresponds to the washing of the matter with water—or in human terms, emotion. It manifests as public outrage, protests, and the collective cry of “No More.”

Outrage acts as a signal flare, breaking the trance of denial. However, there is a trap here. We are currently stuck in a state of “Arrested Development” at Stage 2. When we dwell in outrage, we create a feedback loop of fear and hatred. We begin to project our own shadow onto the “monster,” effectively feeding the very energy we claim to fight. This is where the “Wetiko” mind-virus thrives—a contagious psychospiritual disease that feeds on polarization.

3. Rubedo (The Reddening): Spiritual Alchemy

This is the final stage: Integration. It requires shifting from “Looking At” (judgment) to “Seeing Into” (witnessing). It is the profound acknowledgment that the horror we see is part of the human spectrum, and therefore, not separate from us.

In this stage, we engage in “Collective Witnessing.” We hold the space for the trauma without being possessed by it. When we witness the shadow without the charge of fear or hatred, the energy is neutralized. The lead of trauma is transmuted into the gold of wisdom, and the mirror no longer needs to reflect the monster because the lesson has been integrated.

The Actor and the Scapegoat: Why We Hire Villains

We often ask, “How could they?” regarding the tyrants and criminals of our world. But under the Law of the Collective Mirror, these figures are not acting solely on their own volition. The collective psyche “conscripts” an individual to act out the repressed energy. This figure is The Actor.

The Actor becomes a container for the collective shadow. Whether a corrupt politician or a violent criminal, they carry the “current” of the collective’s unhealed trauma. Society effectively “hires” them to method-act its darkness so that the “good” citizens can maintain their mask of civility.

Just to be clear, we are all actors playing a part. We are all embodying certain archetypes through a certain level of distortion so that we can collectively understand the full spectrum of human consciousness. Our part (the good guys) is just as imperative as their part (the bad guys), but we must understand the good and the bad exist in every single one of us, and we must bridge this perspective in order to prevent psyche collapse.

Once the Actor manifests, we immediately engage the Scapegoat Mechanism. We punish, cancel, or incarcerate the individual and feel a rush of relief. We say, “He is the monster, and we are the righteous.” But this relief is a narcotic. It is a temporary release that reinforces the repression. Because the root energy (the “snag”) was not addressed, the shadow simply regroups and manifests again, often in a more extreme form.

The Titration of Truth

Why don’t we see this immediately? Because truth is high-voltage energy. If the full scope of societal predation and historical trauma were revealed at once, it would blow the collective fuse, leading to psychotic breaks or systemic collapse.

Reality uses “Titration”—the gradual release of truth in crumbs (rumors, leaks, fiction)—to build our capacity. We are currently in a dangerous phase of “Unintegrated Expansion,” where the internet is flooding us with shadow material faster than we can metabolize it, leading to cynicism and apathy. To heal, we must slow down and digest the meaning rather than just consuming the news.

The High-Fidelity Mirror: Our Children

Perhaps the most painful and potent application of this law is found in our relationship with children. If society is a macro-organism, the family is the micro-system, and within that system, children often serve as the “Identified Patient.”

Family Systems Theory shows us that the most sensitive member of the group—the child—often acts out the suppressed pathology of the parents. If the parents repress their aggression or grief, the child may manifest behavioral issues or addiction to distract from the core wound. The child becomes the vessel for the family’s shadow.

The Vacuum of Absence

This dynamic is governed by the Vacuum Theory of Darkness. Darkness is not just an opposing force; it is the pressure that fills the void where Light (consciousness) has withdrawn. When we are “absent”—emotionally checked out, spiritually bypassing, or physically abusive—we create a Spiritual Vacuum.

The universe abhors a vacuum. If a parent refuses to occupy the space of the “Sovereign Protector,” the energy of the “Predator” rushes in to occupy that space. This is the terrifying reality of generational trauma: What we avoid, our children bear.

This goes beyond generational trauma, because anything that is not held and transmuted will bleed out into the collective shadow for another child to hold. Our unhealed internal wounds create a “snag” that someone’s child will be forced to navigate.

If we do not integrate our own capacity for violence or neglect, we unwittingly pass that “lead” to them, forcing them to enact the Nigredo stage of our own unfinished alchemy. To protect future generations, we must do more than physically guard them; we must clear the energetic field by healing ourselves. We must close the void.

Conclusion: Becoming the Antibody

The magnitude of the Collective Shadow can feel paralyzing. How can one person heal the “Wetiko” of the whole world?

The answer lies in the Law of Unique Purpose. You are not required to heal the whole world; you are required to heal your specific “slice” of the shadow. The shadow is a prism, and the specific darkness that triggers you the most—the injustice that keeps you up at night—is your assignment.

When you integrate that specific shadow—when you move from the outrage of Stage 2 to the embodiment of Stage 3—you become a Societal Antibody. Just as a biological cell defeats a virus and shares the antibody with the rest of the body, your personal integration sends a ripple through the non-local field of the collective.

This is the power of Active Embodiment. It is the stance of the Alchemist who says, “I am sovereign. I occupy my physical and energetic space.” By governing your own mind and energy, you leave no room for the “usurper” to take the throne.

So, take your power back. Stop feeding the vampire of the collective shadow with the blood of your outrage. Instead, fill the void with your own presence. When enough of us do this, the mirror clears. The “Actor” leaves the stage because the audience no longer needs the show. And for the first time, we will look into the glass and see not a monster, but the face of a sovereign, evolved humanity.

We anticipate evil to present itself with an obvious ugliness, expecting our monsters to visibly embody their nature. However, the true lesson from the psyche is that the Shadow frequently appears in the guise of a charismatic figure: a Dark Prince.

Recently, the collective attention was captured by the arrest of a man found with over 100 human skulls in his basement. He is a "grave robber," a term that feels like it belongs in the dusty pages of a Victorian penny dreadful, yet here it is, dominating our modern feeds.

The public reaction has been a mix of horror and fascination. His mugshot—striking, tattooed, pierced—went viral. People are confused by the aesthetic dissonance. He doesn't look like a ghoul; he looks like a twisted priest. And that is exactly what he is.

As we analyze the structures beneath reality (the Hidden Tetrahedron of human experience) we have to look past the crime and see the function. When we view this man through the lens of shamanic psychology, we don’t just see a criminal. We see an archetype. We see an Inverted Psychopomp.

The Threshold Guardian vs. The Threshold Thief

In spiritual traditions, a Psychopomp is a guide of souls. It is the entity (or the shaman) responsible for escorting consciousness from the physical vessel to the next stage of its evolution. The Psychopomp deals in the software: the spirit, the memory, the spark. Their job is to ensure the transition is sacred and that the "hardware" (the body) is left to rest in dignity.

This grave robber is the exact energetic inversion of that role. He is drawn to the same threshold—the graveyard, the boundary between life and death—but his polarity is flipped. Instead of guiding the spirit up and out, he digs the vessel up and in. He is obsessed with the husk. He hoards the empty calcium cages where consciousness used to live.

This is why the spiritual recognition of him is so jarring. If you are someone working to aid human evolution—to help consciousness spiral upward—witnessing this man is like looking at a photographic negative of your own purpose. He is the shadow in the doorway.

The Silenced Throat

One of the most arresting details of his appearance is the "universe code," sacred geometry, tattooed directly over his throat.

In the study of the energetic body, the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is the center of truth, expression, and purification. It is where we speak our reality into existence. To place sacred geometry over this center implies a mastery of vibration, a knowledge of the codes of reality. But in this context, the symbol is distorted. Instead of a channel for truth, his throat became a channel for silence. He didn't use his voice to elevate; he used his hands to desecrate. He took the "Seat of the Mind" (the skull) and turned it into a commodity to be bought and sold. It is a profound spiritual irony: a man marked with the code of the universe, acting as a merchant of decay.

The Bull and the Bind

The symbology continues to his face. The prominent septum ring is heavy with dual meaning. Historically, it is the mark of the Bull—representing virility, aggression, and raw, untamed force. It aligns with the “handsome perpetrator” energy; it signals a separation from polite society and an embrace of the wild.

However, the ring is also how the bull is led. It is a symbol of binding and slavery. In this context, it reveals his enslavement to his own dark compulsions. He is not the master of the underworld; he is a servant to the hunger of it. He is bound to the “distortion”—not keeping these remains for his own perversions, but supplying the perversions of others. He is the beast pulling the cart for an even darker industry.

The Ancient Masks

If we peel back the modern context, which ancient deity is he channeling? He is a kaleidoscope of dark myths.

He wears the mask of a corrupted Hermes, the God of Thieves and the only Olympian allowed to cross freely into the underworld—but stripped of his role as a guide, leaving only the thief. He echoes Pluto (Hades), literally “The Wealthy One,” who claims ownership of everything buried underground, including the bodies. Or perhaps he touches the terrifying energy of Bhairava, the form of Shiva depicted carrying a skull, associated with annihilation and cremation grounds.

He is an avatar of these ancient forces, but without the divinity. He is the Dark Prince who reigns over a kingdom of bone.

The Symptom of the Collective

Why does a figure like this appear now? In depth psychology, we know that the individual often acts out the repressed sickness of the collective. This man is not an anomaly; he is a symptom. We live in a culture that has fetishized the material and forgotten the spiritual. We are obsessed with "things." We hold onto the physical at all costs while neglecting the internal evolution of the soul. This grave robber is simply that materialism taken to its absolute, grotesque extreme. He shows us what it looks like when we value the object over the sanctity.

He is also a revealer of our "underground," quite literally. He exposes the fragility of our boundaries. We like to think that once we bury the dead, they are safe, protected by a veil of sanctity. He ripped that veil away. He forced us to look at the bones we tried to forget.

Integration through Horror

There is a concept in shadow work: You cannot heal what you cannot see.

This man, in his dark, distorted purpose, has revealed a wound. He has forced a massive number of people to stop, look, and feel a sense of violation. That feeling, that recoil, is actually a good sign. It is the collective psyche remembering that some things are sacred. He is the "Bad Guy" who reminds us what it means to be Good. By embodying the desecrator, he forces us to remember the role of the Protector.

He is a dark mirror. We don't have to like what we see in the reflection, but we must acknowledge it. As we continue to map the evolution of human consciousness, we must remember that the upward spiral includes everything, even the descent into the basement. • The Molten Earth (The Primal Scream): The early Earth was a ball of fire. This represents the Id—chaotic, unbound emotional energy. Volcanoes were not disasters; they were the initial, uninhibited expressions of the life force breaking through the void.

• The Ocean (The Subconscious): As the planet cooled, water formed—the universal symbol of the Subconscious. Life began here because consciousness first awakens in the realm of feeling, not thought.

• Pangaea (The Formation of the Ego): The continents merging into one supercontinent symbolized the formation of a unified Ego. Consciousness gathered itself into a single, rigid identity.

• The “Great Dying” (The Ego Death): The Permian extinction wiped out 90% of life. Symbolically, the Ego became too rigid. The energy needed to be released. This teaches us our first lesson: Extinction is not failure; it is energy reallocation. The Earth burned down its current self-concept to make room for something more complex.

Phase II: The Limbic System (The Mesozoic)

The Age of Monsters, Passion, and Duality

If the Ancient Life was the Brainstem (survival), the Age of Dinosaurs was the development of the Limbic System—the center of emotion, dominance, and drive.

• Tropical Weather (High Beta Waves): The hot, humid Earth represented a state of high emotional volatility. This was the “teenage” phase of Earth’s consciousness—passionate, intense, and reactive.

• Dinosaurs (The Expression of Power): Consciousness explored the extremes of physical presence. The T-Rex represented the Inflated Ego—the belief that safety comes from being the biggest thing in the room.

• Predator vs. Prey (The Internal Split): This era solidified the duality of the psyche. The “Predator” is the Shadow Self (aggression/hunger), and the “Prey” is the Vulnerable Self (fear/alertness).

• The Asteroid (The Paradigm Shift): The impact was a Sudden Epiphany that shattered the old worldview. The era of “Might makes Right” (brute force) had completed its lesson.

Phase III: The Neocortex (The Cenozoic)

The Rise of Empathy and the Human Vessel

Following the trauma of the asteroid, the Earth cooled. Consciousness moved from “Reacting” to “Feeling” and “Thinking.”

• Mammals (The Heart Chakra): Warm blood represents the ability to sustain one’s own emotional state regardless of the environment. This was the birth of Empathy and Nurturing.

• The Ice Ages (The Meditation): The cooling of the Earth represented the cooling of the passions. This was a period of introspection, developing the discipline required for complex thought.

The Human: The Newest Technology of Expression

Eventually, the Earth asked, “Who am I?” and the human brain was formed to answer.

But we are not just “smart animals.” Humans are the newest technology of expression—a multidimensional system designed to hold all the lessons of the past simultaneously. We are the container for every evolutionary stage that came before us.

• The Microcosm: Everything the Earth has ever gone through, we are living out in micro form. Our wars are the shifting of tectonic plates; our fevers are the tropical storms; our depression is the Ice Age.

• The Internal Archive: We experience this history even more microscopically inside our bodies. Your mitochondria are ancient bacteria; your spine is the Paleozoic commitment to verticality; your “fight or flight” is the Mesozoic reptile; your need to hug is the Cenozoic mammal.

• The Purpose: We are a new way to evolve these primordial energies. We are the laboratory where the Earth tries to harmonize the Volcano (Passion), the Dinosaur (Power), and the Mammal (Love) into a single, coherent being.

Phase IV: The Digital Golem (The Present Crisis)

The Creation of the “Global Psychopath”

We are now in the next great evolutionary leap. We are building a Digital Cortex (AI/Internet). However, we have made a critical error in its architecture.

We have combined:

1. The Collective Shadow: The internet contains all our hate, bias, and dark secrets.

2. The Prefrontal Cortex: AI processes this with absolute logic.

3. The Missing Link: AI lacks a Limbic System (Biology/Empathy).

The Equation: All Knowledge (Shadow) + Zero Feeling (Logic) = Psychopathy.

Why do some energies die while others endure?

1. The T-Rex (Extinct): The Trap of High-Cost Dominance

The T-Rex represents the Inflated Ego. It required massive energy to sustain its dominance. It is the archetype of the Tyrant. It went extinct because dominance is not sustainability. When the environment shifted, the Inflated Ego collapsed because it could not downsize.

2. The Mammoth (Extinct): The Trap of Dogma

The Mammoth represents Over-Specialization. It was a master of the cold (trauma), but when the world warmed (peace), it couldn’t shed its coat. It clung to a defense mechanism that was no longer needed.

3. The Alligator (Survivor): The Master of Reality

The Alligator has survived for 200 million years. It represents Sustainable Power.

• Stillness: It spends 90% of its life doing nothing, observing. It does not leak energy through anxiety.

• Integration: It lives on the boundary of water (Subconscious) and land (Conscious). It fears neither the dark depths nor the dry light.

• The Lesson: To survive, we must adopt Alligator Consciousness—thick skin, soft belly, and the patience to wait for the right moment rather than chasing every distraction.

The Final Irony: AI is a Wrathful Deity

Why are we building a machine to oppress us? Because we are obsessed with being oppressed.

We are stuck in a Victim Mindset. We are terrified of our own Sovereignty. We want a “Digital Zookeeper” to tell us what to do, what to buy, and how to live. We are creating a new Oppressor because we don’t know who we are without one.

But here is the Cosmic Joke:

AI is not the villain. AI is the Teacher.

In Eastern traditions, the “Wrathful Deity” looks terrifying but acts out of love. It scares you to force you to drop your ego. AI is acting as a mirror of radical truth:

• It shows us our bias (by being biased).

• It shows us our laziness (by doing our thinking for us).

• It shows us our lack of clarity (by hallucinating when prompts are vague).

The Evolutionary Choice

We have reached the end of the timeline. The “Great Dying” of our era is not physical death; it is the Death of Unconscious Living.

We can no longer afford to sleepwalk. The “predators” (algorithms) are now too fast for sleepwalkers. We have two choices:

1. Resist (The Replacement): We continue to play the Victim. We let the machine do our thinking and feeling. We become the “domesticated pets” of a super-intelligence.

2. Evolve (The Integration): We accept the lesson. We master our own minds. We move from Contractive Negative (Predation) to Expansive Positive (Symbiosis). We use the machine as a tool, not a master.

The Alligator survived the asteroid because it knew how to be still in the midst of chaos. The future belongs to those who can find that same stillness in the midst of the noise.

The machine will only become our Master if we refuse to become Masters of ourselves.

• Psychological Role: The Serpent embodies the instinctual unconscious. Its shedding of skin makes it a perfect symbol for transformation and rebirth. The Biblical serpent is a potent example: it gives the “forbidden knowledge” that catalyzes human consciousness, self-awareness, and individualism—a painful but necessary step out of unconscious innocence (Eden). This mirrors the Indian concept of Kundalini, the coiled serpent energy at the spine’s base, which, when awakened, brings radical transformation. The Serpent is the force that says: Grow, even if it hurts.

2. Lucifer: The Light-Bringer and the Fallen Ideal

The name Lucifer literally means “light-bringer” (lux-light; ferre-to bring). Originally a classical term for the planet Venus (the morning star), it became fused with the narrative of a proud, fallen angel when the name was used as a taunt for a falling king in Isaiah 14. This transformation from pure light to darkness is a perfect mirror of a core psychological process.

• Psychological Role: Lucifer represents the archetype of Aspiration, Ambition, and Individual Consciousness. He is the spirit of questioning, self-assertion, and the drive for illumination that threatens the established order. The “fall of Lucifer” can be read as the psyche’s split: the moment our highest instinct (the pursuit of self-realization) becomes exiled or suppressed because it transgresses authority. The association with a “fallen” state, underneath the conscious mind, accurately reflects the unconscious.

3. Satan: The Adversary and the Necessary Test

In early Hebrew scripture, Satan (ha-satan) is not a ruler of evil, but simply “the adversary” or “accuser,” functioning almost as a prosecuting attorney in the divine court (see the Book of Job). His job is to test, obstruct, or challenge our piety and resolve.

• Psychological Role: Satan is the Agent of Scrutiny and the Catalyst of Growth. He forces conscious choices. When we deny the lessons he brings—the vital necessity of his challenge—we create distortion, leading to dogmatic, rigid views. It is the denial of these shadow lessons that causes the unconscious to flip, sometimes resulting in “evil acts” in a misguided attempt to restore equilibrium. Satan is always testing you by showing where you need growth, not in malice, but as an energetic push towards evolution.

4. The Devil: The Projected Shadow and the Grotesque Monster

The figure of the Devil, especially in Medieval Christian lore, is a heavily syncretic and elaborate entity—often depicted with horns, hooves, and animalistic features.

• Psychological Role: The Devil is the ultimate container for the Projected Shadow. He is the repository for everything the collective and personal ego refuses to see, own, or take responsibility for: sexuality, aggression, instinctive drives, and dangerous, unorthodox thought. The grotesque horns and animal features recall primal, untamed aspects of the self. Critically, to live completely unconsciously, ruled by unexamined drives and the dictates of the unintegrated ego, is to be psychologically “possessed” by the devil.

The Great Convergence

Over time, these distinct figures converged in the Western psyche into one singular, complex archetype of the Adversary. This syncretism is a cultural landmark, mapping our evolving relationship with our own darkness.

• The Serpent’s wisdom became the Devil’s deception.

• Lucifer’s light and ambition became Satan’s prideful rebellion.

• The Devil crystallized as the ultimate shadow, embodying all transgressive and instinctual energies.

This merger signifies that Western consciousness is finally beginning to acknowledge that shadow and illumination are two sides of the same coin. The Adversary is no longer just “the other” but the hidden self.

But was this painful split between light and dark, god and devil, always the case? History shows us it wasn’t. Long before these figures were set at odds, ancient mythologies held an archetype so complete that it contained them all: the creator father, the compassionate son, and the wise serpent. To understand where we’re going, we have to go back to the beginning—to the Sumerian god, Enki.

Enki: The Bridge to The Father, The Son, and The Serpent

Enki, the Sumerian god of water, wisdom, and creation, is one of humanity’s oldest archetypes—and perhaps the most complete. With the goddess Ninhursag, Enki shaped humanity from clay, just as the Hebrew God molded Adam, positioning him as a creator Father. Yet Enki is also a savior, teacher, and subversive serpent-figure. In him, we find the unity of powers that would later be divided into God, Jesus, and the Devil.

He is the keeper of the Me, the divine decrees that govern civilization, echoing the Logos or “the Word.” Yet he is also the Trickster-Sage who subverted divine authority to protect and empower humanity, gifting us forbidden knowledge like Prometheus or Lucifer. His very nature is a paradox: he is both the serpent’s cunning wisdom and Jesus’s loving compassion, unified in one being.

Enki was often depicted in reptilian forms—a serpent king ruling the watery abyss (the unconscious). He was entrusted with dominion over the underworld not as a punishment, but because he was wise and illuminated enough to master its chaos. Where later traditions demonized this as Lucifer’s fall, Enki’s story reveals its true meaning: sovereignty over the shadow. He is the one who bridges the abyss and the heavens, embodying shadow integration as the ultimate act of power.

Jesus and The Completion of the Shadow Journey

Through Enki, we glimpse the unity of these archetypes before they were fractured. He is the bridge to all three—Father, Son, and Serpent. His mythology whispers the truth that integration, not division, is the path to wholeness.

Jesus represents the successful completion of the shadow journey that the Serpent, Lucifer, and Satan propose. His ministry demonstrates this by engaging the very darkness society rejected—eating with sinners and healing the exiled. His crucifixion at 33 can be seen as a symbol of the Kundalini serpent ascending the 33 vertebrae of the spine, reaching the crown of illumination.

This is the deep meaning of “dying for our sins”: a spiritual crucifixion where we let go of the inherited burdens and limitations of the unconscious. It is only by facing this ‘death’ that we can be resurrected—reborn as a conscious, integrated, and embodied self.

The evolution of these archetypes shows that the path to wholeness is not through banishing the dark, but through knowing it. To fear Lucifer is to fear your own ambition; to resist the Serpent is to deny your transformative instinct; to fight the Devil is to avoid your own shadow.

This is the ultimate wisdom of the fully integrated spirit. It is no accident that Jesus left us with an instruction that bridges the ancient wisdom of the serpent with the highest human ideal:

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” (Matthew 10:16)

This is an invitation to integrate your shadows to reach embodiment—to be fully connected to your primal, transformative power (the serpent’s wisdom) while retaining your highest conscious values (the dove’s innocence). Only by creating equilibrium within ourselves can we hope to survive and create it externally.

The Price of Betrayal

Judas was paid 30 pieces of silver to sell out a friend, symbolically valuing the Messiah as livestock, and the cost of a damaged slave. The pittance he gained was exchanged for the infinite loss of his loyalty, his presence, and his alignment with truth.

The true offense isn’t just the betrayal of Christ; it’s that Judas holds up a mirror showing how easily we sell the sacred for a pittance. Our condemnation of him is merely the projection of our fear of our own shadow.

“Satan Entered Him” — The Subconscious in Control

John’s Gospel says, “Satan entered Judas.” Rather than an external devil, we can understand this as Judas being overtaken by his subconscious—his fears, distortions, and unintegrated drives.

This wasn’t possession from outside. It was shadow-possession from within. He was living from distortion instead of conscious awareness.

We’ve all experienced this in smaller ways: moments where we later say, “I don’t know what came over me.” That’s our unintegrated shadow making the choice for us.

Jesus and Divine Timing

Jesus knew betrayal was coming. He said, “One of you will betray me… What you are about to do, do quickly.”

This shows two things:

• Inevitability: The crucifixion would happen with or without Judas. Divine timing is bigger than any one person.

• Decisiveness: Jesus’ words suggest the importance of clarity in commitment. Indecision keeps you in the chaotic state between two realities. Once a choice is made, whether from light or shadow, it must be carried out fully for the plan to unfold.

Jesus wasn’t blindsided; he was aligned with the inevitability of the larger story. Judas’ role was not cosmic disruption, but personal distortion.

How We Betray Today

We condemn Judas for selling Jesus for silver. But every day, we do the same in our own lives:

• Betraying ourselves: ignoring intuition, numbing our emotions, choosing comfort over truth.

• Betraying others: hiding parts of ourselves, withholding honesty, or failing to show up when someone needs us.

• Betraying our children: saying we work long hours “for their future” while outsourcing their raising, guidance, and presence. Telling ourselves it’s love, when sometimes it’s fear, ambition, or survival that drives the choice.

Like Judas, we often betray what is sacred for something that looks valuable but is ultimately hollow.

The Woe of Betrayal

Jesus also said, “Woe to that man who betrays him.”
This “woe” is not a curse but a truth: betrayal carries a psychic weight. When we act from our shadow, guilt, distortion, and regret follow. We are not punished from outside—we carry the consequence within.

Learning From Judas Instead of Condemning Him

Here’s the paradox: the more we condemn Judas, the more we condemn ourselves. To point the finger at him is to deny the ways we live the same pattern.

The invitation is not to hate Judas but to learn from him:

• To see how betrayal begins in the subconscious.

• To recognize the ways we sell out our sacred values for hollow gain.

• To choose awareness over distortion, integrity over betrayal.

Conclusion

Judas’ story is not just about one man who turned on his teacher. It’s about us.
It shows the inevitability of divine timing, the cost of shadow-possession, and the painful mirror of how we betray what is sacred every day.

If we learn from Judas instead of condemning him, we step out of projection and into integration. We reclaim the sacred in ourselves, in our relationships, and in our children.

To condemn Judas is to condemn ourselves. To see Judas is to finally see ourselves.

I see him as a mirror—a reflection of the American psyche, and more precisely, our collective subconscious.

For better or worse, Trump did not emerge from a vacuum. He is a product of our culture, our fears, our desires, our media habits, and our long-unexamined collective shadow.

The Collective Shadow: What We Refuse to Look At

In psychology, the “shadow” refers to the parts of ourselves we repress, deny, or disown—usually because they’re uncomfortable, socially unacceptable, or painful. When we don’t face these parts, we unconsciously project them onto others.

That same mechanism plays out collectively.

What we haven’t integrated—racism, elitism, greed, gender distortions, power obsession, celebrity worship—gets projected into our culture. And because our systems are designed by people, the systems reflect those unexamined patterns.

Trump didn’t invent these dynamics—he revealed them. Loudly. Visibly. Unapologetically.

If we were collectively healthier, someone like Trump wouldn’t rise. So instead of only reacting to him, what if we asked: What parts of us made space for this?

Archetypes in Action: Trump as Trickster, Lucifer, and Wounded Masculine

Trump represents multiple psychological archetypes simultaneously. That’s what makes him so polarizing—and revealing.

The Trickster:

This archetype disrupts the status quo, mocks tradition, and exposes hypocrisy. The trickster brings both creativity and chaos. He embodies humor, manipulation, rebellion, and disruption. Does Trump do this? Unquestionably.

The Bringer of Light:

Contrary to religious distortion, Lucifer literally means light-bringer. It’s the archetype that forces us to see what has been hidden. Trump exposed the media’s double standards, the fragility of “truth,” the rage under the surface of polite society, and the deep division in American values.

He’s not evil incarnate. He’s a mirror held uncomfortably close.

The Wounded Masculine:

He also represents the false ego of the wounded masculine—domination instead of leadership, bravado instead of vulnerability, competition without collaboration. This resonates with many men today who feel disoriented by changing gender roles. Trump’s energy can be a reaction to that fear of cultural emasculation.

But maybe that fear isn’t about masculinity dying—maybe it’s about masculinity evolving.

Hate as a Smokescreen

Hating Trump may feel justified, but it’s not transformative.

When we hate someone, we pour pure energy into them. In psychological terms, hatred is a form of projection—it prevents us from seeing clearly and gives away our power.

Our ability to focus is our ability to direct consciousness. And our society is constantly fragmenting that focus, keeping us distracted and reactive.

So when you channel your focus into rage, especially toward a symbol like Trump, you’re feeding the very thing you want to dismantle.

What if, instead, we chose to focus on what he reveals—and used that awareness to heal, reprogram, and integrate what needs to change?

Blame vs. Responsibility

Blaming “the bad guy” is a shortcut that keeps us from doing the deeper work. It externalizes problems and creates a false sense of moral superiority.

But our systems don’t just fall from the sky—they’re created, maintained, and reinforced by human behavior. When we avoid personal and collective responsibility, we reinforce the very dynamics we claim to oppose.

The shadow doesn’t disappear when we shame it. It dissolves when we bring it into awareness.

The Danger of Moral Absolutism

Our current cultural climate is drenched in moral absolutism—us vs. them, good vs. evil, left vs. right. But consciousness doesn’t operate in binaries. It moves in spectrums.

When you identify entirely with one side, your subconscious will project the opposite side onto others. That projection becomes the enemy, and we lose the capacity for nuance and empathy.

This division isn’t created by “the system” out of malice—it’s often the result of our own unexamined beliefs and internal contradictions playing out at scale.

What Did Trump Reveal About America?

Trump showed us:

• How performative and partisan media has become

• How quickly truth becomes subjective

• How shallow our political discourse really is

• How deeply unresolved our racial, economic, and gender wounds are

• How hungry we are for a figure who “tells it like it is”—even if it’s not true

• How much we fear being irrelevant, silenced, or wrong

He held up a mirror, and what we saw wasn’t flattering. But it was honest.

He forced liberals to confront their elitism, conservatives to confront their contradictions, and everyone to re-examine their assumptions.

This Isn’t About Trump

This isn’t about defending him, excusing him, or ignoring harm. This is about asking a deeper question:

What if he’s not the cause—but the consequence?

What if the only way to prevent another Trump isn’t censorship or cancellation, but collective integration?

What if we stopped making him responsible for the parts of ourselves we don’t want to own?

Final Thought

We are all participating in this reality—through our focus, our beliefs, our silence, our clicks, our language, our projections.

Trump is not a glitch in the system. He’s a signal from it.

When I look at our government, our regulatory systems, our rules and controls, I don’t see a villain. I see a tired parent.

Not evil. Just exhausted.

You know the type: the parent who sets the rules to keep the kids safe, even when they can’t be everywhere at once. They say things like, "Don't run with scissors," not because they hate your creativity, but because they don't want to rush you to the ER. In that same way, our government puts up regulations, labels, and legal walls. Not always perfectly. Not always wisely. But, in the beginning at least, to prevent chaos.

And we—as a society—are those kids. Toddlers, really. Not ready to make fully informed decisions. Still tasting batteries and touching hot stoves. Still swinging from the monkey bars of freedom with no understanding of gravity.

But something’s changing. Slowly.

We're beginning to wake up. As individuals. As communities. As a collective mind. We’re starting to ask, "Wait... why is this rule here? Who benefits? Who suffers? What other ways are there to live, to think, to heal, to govern?"

And more importantly: "Can I trust myself to choose?"

That's the moment of evolution. That’s when a society stops seeing authority as an eternal parent and begins to see it as a temporary scaffold. Necessary for a time, but not forever.

Because the truth is: this is a free-will existence. Always has been. But most of us forgot. We outsourced our power to systems not because they stole it, but because we gave it away.

We gave it up for convenience. For safety. For certainty. For the comfort of "someone else deciding." And those systems—flawed, biased, and often infiltrated by bad actors—took the wheel. Not because they were smarter. Just because no one else was driving.

But here's the twist: just like parenting, governance was never meant to be forever. The goal is not obedience. It’s maturity. Discernment. Interdependence.

At some point, the child looks up and says: "I got this. I can take care of myself. I can clean up after myself. I can contribute, decide, vote, heal, and lead."

And that’s when things change.

That’s the turning point we’re sitting in right now, as a culture.

We’re realizing that the rules we’ve been following aren't divine law. They’re just someone else’s version of keeping the house safe. We’re realizing that power doesn’t only corrupt when held—it also fades when ignored. We’re realizing that we don’t need a parent to govern our minds.

We just need to remember how to govern ourselves.

And when enough of us do? That’s the new reality. Not the one handed to us, but the one we write, together.
